On Saturday 25th January and Monday 27th January, you’ll have the opportunity to see the best of Sydney and surrounds with our geocache lead tours.
These tours are about more than just finding geocaches. It’s about seeing the city with a local who can share insights and tips and make your feel welcome in their part of the city. You’ll also hear about the background and stories surrounding some of the hides with some of the tours being run by the COs themselves.

Join CO Calypso62 on an epic journey through Sydney that focuses on the historical legacy of Governor Lachlan Macquarie. This full day tour will have you visiting some of the best sights and sites in Sydney and will hopefully have you leaving old Sydney Town with your Ticket-of-Leave. Rated as one of the best caches in Sydney and the winner of the Geocaching NSW Geocaching of the Year for 2017, you may only be gaining one smiley, but your kilometres of walking will result in covering many of Sydney’s tourist highlights along the way. | Take a walk through history on this tour of The Rocks. See some of the oldest buildings in Australia, experience the views from the top of Observatory Hill, and see the Harbour Bridge from a different perspective. There will be a variety of cache types to find, and plenty of opportunity to stop for a coffee break or a cold beer. | Explore the Cronulla Peninsula with Shire local wazza9, CO of many of the caches you’ll see on your visit. Visit the oldest clock in Australia, the oldest commuter ferry and a monument to Bass and Flinders while seeing spectacular views of Port Hacking and the renowned Cronulla Beach. You may even get the chance to finish your adventure with a dip in one of the popular ocean pools. |

Join Sutherland Shire local Nana Nel to find the oldest geocache in the Sutherland Shire. On the way you’ll cross over the historic Como Railway Bridge, visit the Como Pleasure Grounds and find plenty of caches and Adventure Lab locations along the way. | Parramatta is home to not only some of the oldest colonial buildings in Australia, but also some fabulous geocaches. Discover hidden gems, modern public art, and hear stories of colonial times and see how they all come together to be the Parramatta we have today. | See the best bits of Sydney Olympic Park from the Town Centre to the Brickpit while learning about how the site has evolved after the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Geocaching has a long history with the park and Tronador will not only take you to find geocaches, but will also share personal stories about her connection to the space. |

Cockatoo Island has played several roles in the history of Sydney. Firstly as a secondary offenders gaol for convicts, then a girls reformatory school, and lastly as a significant ship building and maintenance facility. MavEtJu will take you to the locations noted in his Adventure Lab while also stopping off to pick up the traditional. You’ll see the convict barracks, explore tunnels, buildings and dockyards, and experience one of the best views of Sydney Harbour, all for the price of a ferry ticket. | Sydney is famous for its sandstone, and there’s no better place to see how far it stretches than North Head. Joined be a geologist from Geotourism Australia, you’ll learn about the formations that make our coastline special, and find a few geocaches along the way. | It’s_Dozie will meet you at Watsons Bay and take you on a tour where you will be able to look back over towards the city but also see way out into the Pacific Ocean. Your walk will take you to The Gap where you’ll learn about its sad history but also who the Angel of the Gap was. The recently refurbished Hornby Lighthouse stand at the very end of South Head and has played an important role ever since the sinking of the Dunbar. |

Visit the (now virtual) site of the first geocache placed in Australia. Located in Lane Cove National Park, this virtual is a must do for visitors. jennyfromthefarm is an old cache expert so you’ll learn about the history of the cache, the park and how geocaching in Australia has evolved. |
How do I book a tour?
In order to give guests a fair chance to register, we will be allocating tickets by ballot. The booking form will be open from 26 November 2024 to 15 December 2024. Allocations will be announce in the week following.
You will only be selected for one tour per day. That gives you plenty of time to enjoy your surrounds, head off to find other geocaches, or catch up with geocaching mates.
How much does a tour cost?
They are all free and run by volunteers. Leaving well written logs on cache finds will be a beautiful reward.
How big will each tour be?
The maximum capacity for all walking tours is 20 people (with the exception of the Sydney Olympic Bike Tour which will be 12). If there is more than one in your group, please select the appropriate number of tickets when booking.
How do I make my selection?
Use the form below to indicate your preference for Saturday and Monday with 1 being your first preference and 6 being your last preference. You do not have to choose more than one preference if you are only interested in one tour.
How will I know where to meet and when?
Once the tour bookings have been finalised, we will contact each tour participant with exact meeting times and places.

Liability
