Historic Cockatoo Island was the backdrop for another great event organised by Geocaching NSW: The Great Aussie Keytag Trek.  A ferry ride brings you to this island where there is so much to explore: an old shipyard, a tunnel and a convict precinct… this place is oozing with history. And of course there are some great caches to be found too.

Geocachers from all over came to enjoy a fun filled day, the weather was perfect and there were lots of laughs and geotalk. Everyone who did the keytag trek enjoyed it immensely with breath taking views over the city at a lot of the locations.

There were 8 keytags placed around Cockatoo Island. Each keytag had a letter and a symbol.   Participants had to find the keytags, using a worksheet with coordinates.  At each stage the letter and symbol had to be transferred to the worksheet.  At the end, the 8 letters would form a word.

Around 25 geocachers, often accompanied by family, made the way to Cockatoo Island and had a great day out!

A fantastic event. The Key Tag Hunt was so much fun. A great venue and a good time was had by all. I look forward to another one in the future. Thanks GCNSW.
