The Geocache of the Month for September 2020 is Pirouette in the Park (GC80YB1) by Youban. It was nominated by SueDan83.
This traditional cache was placed in December 2018 in the Bega Regional Council area which is near Bateman’s Bay, on the far South Coast. It is approx. 305 km’s South of Sydney & 175 km’s from Canberra.
The owner says of the cache “This area is part of the old farm land that runs along the Moruya River”, ”It is quite a picturesque spot filled with birdsongs”. Youban also warns that it can be a bit boggy after significant rain but does dry out quickly.
dty73 writes “The bottom of the car got a good scrubbing as we drove down the overgrown track. Luckily it was mostly grass and only a couple of pot holes to navigate. But we were able to park 25m from the cache. The cache was easily spotted, but getting the log was another typical Youban adventure. Knowing them, I knew sort of what to expect, but it still took a little time to work it out. Finally with the log in hand,I signed while trying to swat away the bloody mosquitos. I then quickly returned it all back into place and jumped back in the car. Off to the next one. Another well made cache! Favourite point from me”.
SueDan83 write in their log “Another fantastic cache. We cycled along a pleasant bushtrack and there it was. Now, how to access the log. Do we need water? No, just observation. We got scared by a spider. Then we got the log in yet another well made container. This deserves a triple FP, if that were possible”.
It is a micro cache where the difficulty & terrain are 1.5 so you shouldn’t have trouble finding it, but you may find a challenge getting to the log book. This cache has been found 27 times and has a whopping 16 favourite points! This one could be well worth a visit if you are in cooee of Moruya.
