Geocache of the month

Geocache of the Month: November 2016

Geocache of the Month for November is awarded to Flying High by DiMorgan. Hidden in the Cairncross State Forest near Port Macquarie on the Mid North Coast in November 2014, Flying High has earned a very respectable 53% favourite point rating. The hide carries a D/T rating of 2½/3 and is one of a trail of 12 traditional caches the CO has placed along fire trails off Blackmans Point Road. It was nominated by No Tomorrow who wrote:

"I want to vote for one geocache in an amazing trail. It isn't technically a series so I can't vote for them all, just like I couldn't favorite all the caches on the trail. So I'm going to vote for the one with the highest fave point percentage rating...GC5GFAX, Flying High by DiMorgan, just north of Port Macquarie....I saw this V of caches in the bush, all with a good number of favorite points, and popped them at the top of my must-do list while in the area.
Each cache along this fire trail is a clever hide, the containers varying from body parts to work of arts. There were 2 that really stood out above the rest (excuse the pun) in cleverness. Flying High was one of these.
Having started at the other end of the trail, by this stage I thought I'd figured out the way DiMorgan thought. But I was still wonderfully surprised. I wasn't expecting this to be the cache. It is a clever little contraption, from the fun vessel to the fact that it came to rest at the prefect height and didn't need to be juggled while signing the log.
If you are in the area, you really need to put this trail on your must-do list. And if, like myself, you start at Tomato, you'll finish up at a Strawberry farm where you can pick your own, and ponder the caches over a coffee in the cafe."

Thanks for the nomination No Tomorrow and congratulations to DiMorgan on winning the gong.

Nominate a NSW geocache that has impressed you and say why you think it deserves the award. It doesn't have to be a geocache hidden or found in the past month or even the past year. It just needs to be in, start in or finish in, NSW and not be archived. Head over to the Forum and start nominating.
